As noted in another thread, Why Don’t You Think For Yourself? Nuclear Assault Style |2020, I grew up listening to Nuclear Assault.
I typically talk more about the impact that Slayer had on me, it’s very important for me to continue to highlight some of the smaller named but HIGHER important bands.
The bands from this genre that made me, like the Nuclear Assaults, the Sepultura’s, the Overkills, the Slayers (noted).
I’ll note that the earliest of my loves in the above panel, Overkill. They were the gateway into the rest. Overkill was thrash metal, no bones. And you know what, FUCK YOU AND THEN SOME.
In the case of Brain Death, there’s a duality to it. I’ve always found that at the 3:32 marker, that groove I’ve referenced in the past. It’s a slow marching sound that pulls you in.
There is a personal component to this, something unrealized until Dec. 1993. Nothing that could be foreshadowed. But does life really ever do that? Nope.
Then, another kaboom. It’s also the last Christmas my family ever had. You can’t change the past, you can just live with it. How you deal with adversity tells us who we are. Good or Bad.
I will say that I will be laying lots of Easter eggs upon the posts I do over the next two months. It’s your job to assemble them, translate the texts, and propose a cogent theory.
Think Mick Fokey, his fortitude. Another post that’ll be, talking about Hell In A Cell on June 28, 1998. That changed everything. Everything known, poof, gone. Brain Death on overdrive!
You lie deathly still
In your hospital bed
Soon to go under the knife
The white walls are gleaming
The smell is so clean
You shiver in fear for your life
Uneasy with your surroundings
You wonder if you’ll get out alive
The doctors walk-in
And he smiles at you
Your surgery is scheduled for fiveHelp me
Save me
As I take my last breath
From these
Madmen
Licensed to give deathWatching the clock
As the hour draws near
Nervousness making you sweat
Now comes the time
And you’re given a shoot
You wonder if that’s all you’ll get
You are wheeled into
The room where you’ll die
A thought that is morbid but true
The last thing you see
As you’re slipping away
Is the scalpel they’re sticking in youHelp me
Save me
As I take my last breath
From these
Madmen
Licensed to give deathSafe from the monster
Safe from it all
You watch but you no longer pain
The body you’ve left
Is a pile of guts
It’s obvious that they’re insane
And as your spirit
Is leaving this plane
You know that they cannot be stopped
The practice you thrive
The deaths will continue
And what they don’t eat just will rotHelp me
Save me
As I take my last breath
From these
Madmen
Licensed to give death
