The Astonishing > Brother, Can You Hear Me

I am going to take a few minutes here, and over the next few weeks, to review Dream Theater’s new album, The Astonishing. IMO, this is a epic, massive and awe inspiring album. Clocking in at ~2h:10m, it’s gonna take a while.

We are now up to the twelfth track, Brother, Can You Hear Me?. I’m going to paraphrase from DT Tracks, Gabriel has gone into hiding and is being protected by Arhys’ men. Gabriel however is severely traumatized by all of this and is questioning the possession of his so called ‘gift’ now. Gabriel has come to a major crossroads in his life and knows that a turning point is imminent.

In Kastle’s words, Gabriel is freaking out that questioning himself while his brother has sworn to protect him from the GNEA. Gabriel knows that if anything happens to hum the whole cause, everything they’ve worked for, gone. Poof.
