I was painting again tonight, listening to a combo of Rush and Styx. Mr. Roboto came on and while I was painting, my mind started to drift. This is the outcome summarized.

A late 20’s man becomes a refuge in the future when robots rise up against man and try to exterminate humanity. When caught he cons them in to hiring him as a consultant (rather then being a slave) to teach them how to be human. And from there he spends his time teaching the robots AI’s things like idioms, personality and what is good in all of man. He is loved and revered till his natural death. And in the end, the robots become human and live in peace in a utopia of technology and advancement with no war, no religion and no humans. They go out upon the stars, touching a spark in civilization wherever they arrive.
One of the things about this idea that really hit me after writing it was the fact that in the eye’s of the robots, the refuge was god. While I may/may not believe in god or religion, the concept really does fit pretty well minus one detail. That being the length of the human life vs. length of service life a machine has. That is a shallow view of robots and machines, but lets face it there isn’t a lot of data there…
