Antidote, You Saved NOTHING |2021

The Antidote, you gave me my signature toast… Here’s to the Eve Of the Day which will never come, And here’s to Retreat To ease the pain.

Wow, what an amazing quote! And even yet, a better story it does tell. The depth of the song was vastly different than my expectations when I first listened to Antidote from Moonspell.

I remember reading about José Luís Peixoto and his Short-novels/fictional narrative 2003: Antídoto when this song was released in 2003.

Sorry, didn’t mean to go sideways there. But remember this, when I write it’s for a very specific reason. It lights my brain in untold ways, placing me betwixt life and death. The Antidote does not save me.

And in most of my lifetime, every time I took the antidote it killed my life and that of those around me. Scorched earth shit. Salt all of the earth level shit. Nuked from space. Like that.

It may be powerful knowing that in the history of this Man, that this song, Antidote, is second (#2) on the list. The list of the greatest of all the greatest songs that I have, and have had, in my life. The best of the goto’s, the soul sustainers, the lifesavers, the ones to share.

If we were to pick a song that starts with ANESTHESIA, well that there would be #1. Ya know, the Boss, the head man, the top dog, the big cheese, the head honcho, numero uno. That one.

Yup, she’ll always be that number one in my life. I know and respect that part of me. I know that Anesthesia has positive intent, even if I don’t understand why. Alas, this is a different poison.

I mean no disrespect to this song, Antidote. It’s fucking super ultra amazingly fabulous. To be directly behind ANESTHESIA, now that’s a fucking place to be. That’s something that should stand the fuck out.

I think all of what I’ve written here should tell a story that this song holds a very powerful meaning to me and to my existence. It’s very unique and just like me, it emotes a uniqueness of quality.
