audio pre-amble

This is going to be a review of some of the 6SN7 tubes that I’ve gotten for my 1st generation Project Sunrise.

I’ve had this now for many years, not using it nearly enough. Sometimes it was because of the sound transmission, often a crackle or hiss, but more for not having a DAC that could make it sing.

I recently picked up a Schiit Bifrost 4490 and holy shit this thing is amazing. Just a fantastic DAC, one well worth the money.

Given that I made this purchase I knew I really needed to make an effort to play with the Project Sunrise and that’s what I’m aiming to do.

I recently purchased a pair of 6SN7 tubes off eBay, NOS (new old stock) to see if, with the adapter I purchased from Garage1217.com, if it truly would bring life to this combo.

And one last note, I’ll be testing this with both my Audio-Technica ATH-M50 (that I bought a long long time ago) and my NAD VISO HP50’s.

I plan on burning my testing material (from here) some time this week to begin another chapter, to test this setup. I don’t happen to have anything other then my CD player that is digital or USB (unless I use my laptop) so it’s CD format.

So, there it is.
