Anthrax, Got The Time is a long-running (har har) mental note to myself. To me, it represents exactly what you think it would… overextending yourself in this world, and it never stops.
I’ve covered an Anthrax track or two here, specifically Safe Home.
Something important tho from Wikipedia:
The group is considered one of the leaders of the thrash metal scene from the 1980s and is part of the “Big Four” of the genre, along with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. They were also one of the first thrash metal bands (along with Overkill and Nuclear Assault) to emerge from the East Coast.
Always cracks me up to read shit like that, having been 1) from the East Coast, and 2) A fan of all three. Maybe I need to do more Overkill. That shit’ll fill a fucking stadium. E.N.D.
Alas, back on track. The reason I am writing this is that I’ve long thought and felt, but recently realized the actuality of it, that time is a funnel. Wider at the top than the bottom.
At the top of the funnel, time moves very slowly. This is when you are an infant and as time goes on, time slowly but surely quickens. The older you get, the faster it moves, until it is all gone.
Why do I bring this up? Very simple, kind of. You see… Time is a known constant. There is nothing we can do to stop it. There is nothing we can do to slow it down. Time is, and therefore we exist.
The older we get, the faster time moves. Sometimes it because of family, sometimes it’s because of functionality (job). But time doesn’t give a fuck about that. It keeps ticking, tick ticking ahead.
But wait, there’s more to it than that. I mean, isn’t there always?
Sometimes time is on your side, as in an advantage to you. Patience can often be thought of as manipulation of time. Impatience is the shorting of time, perhaps speeding it up, as you want it sooner rather than later.
Now patience is something I’ve written about a number of times as of late. And there is a very specific reason for my doing that. It is because of the sheer importance of thinking.
Thinking over action, or overreacting, is simply one of the most important characteristics that you can have in the SJW/Cancel Culture world. What you do should be measured, not off the cuff.
Bad things tend to happen now when you spout off, vent, speak your mind because typically nothing good comes from it. Sure, it’ll make you feel better. But it literally does the situation no good.
Being able to think out situations, know the environment, and be tactical, takes time. Not making a situation worse takes time. But there is never enough time. Nope, not ever.
So take this with you, funnel. That is all.

“Got The Time”
(originally by Joe Jackson)Wake up, got another day to get
Through now, got another man to see
Gotta call him on the telephone AY-O
Gotta find a piece of paper
Sit down, got another letter to write
Think hard, gotta get a letter just right
Little ringin’ on the telephone oh no,
Gotta write another letterNo such thing as tomorrow
All we want, Two, three, go!
Time, got the time tick tick tickin’ in my head
Time, got the time tick tick tickin’ in my head
Time, got the time tick tick tickin’ in my head
Tickin’ in my head, tickin’ in my head, tickin’ in my headIf I, tell ya what I’m doing today
Will you, shut up and get out of my way
Someone ask me what the time is, I don’t know
Only know I gotta know now
No time, tryin’ ta get a watch repaired
No time, never got a thing to wear
Little ringin’ on the telephone
Oh no, hear a ringin’ in my head nowNo such thing as tomorrow
All we want, Two, three, go!
Time, got the time tick tick tickin’ in my head
Time, got the time tick tick tickin’ in my head
Time, got the time tick tick tickin’ in my head
Tickin’ in my head, tickin’ in my head, tickin’ in my headNo such thing as tomorrow
All we want, Two, three, go!
Time, got the time tick tick tickin’ in my head
Time, got the time tick tick tickin’ in my head
Time, got the time tick tick tickin’ in my head
Tickin’ in my head, tickin’ in my head, tickin’ in my head
